PARENTS

At BVB IA Eastside, we recognize that parents are the heart and foundation of every player’s journey. From the first time your child steps onto the field to the day they compete at the highest levels, your encouragement, sacrifice, and support make it all possible. We see you as partners in the development process — working alongside our coaches and staff to help every player grow, both on and off the pitch. Whether your child is taking their very first touches or is already competing in a highly competitive environment, we are committed to keeping you informed, involved, and connected every step of the way.

What to Expect

Practices

  • Our sessions focus on skill development, tactical awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Practices are structured, but fun—kids should look forward to coming each session.

Playing Time

  • Our goal is to give every player meaningful minutes to develop in real game situations.
  • Playing time may vary depending on age group, competition level, and attendance.

Leagues & Tournaments

  • Teams participate in league play and tournaments throughout the year.
  • Parents receive advance notice about travel tournaments, costs, and schedules.

Standards

  • High attendance for all training and games.
  • Timely communication with coaches about absences.
  • Positive representation of the club at all times.
  • Dedication to both individual improvement and team success.

Calendar Overview

We are a year-round program:

  • Summer – Camps, friendlies, tournaments.
  • Fall – League matches (Aug–Nov).
  • Winter – Boys high school winter league, optional tournaments.
  • Spring – League matches (Mar–May).

Weekly Rhythm:

  • 3 training sessions during the week.
  • Parents must pick up their player from training on time.
  • 1–4 games on weekends (league or tournament).
  • Tournaments often involve travel, multi-game weekends, and full-day commitments.

Respect The Call

U.S. Soccer has launched the Referee Abuse Prevention (RAP) Policy, called “Respect The Call,” to protect referees and create a more positive environment for players. This policy applies to players, coaches, parents, and spectators at all youth games.

What Parents Should Know

  • Zero Tolerance for Abuse – Verbal, physical, and discriminatory abuse toward referees will not be tolerated.
  • Clear Penalties – Suspensions range from a minimum of 2 games for minor verbal abuse to a lifetime ban for severe physical assault.
  • Everyone Is Accountable – The rules apply to all adults and minors involved in the game, including those on the sidelines.

YOUR ROLE

Encourage, Don’t Coach – Let our coaches handle the instructions during games so your child can focus on playing.

Model Good Sportsmanship – Cheer positively for all players and show respect for referees, opponents, and fellow parents.

Support Team Commitments – Make every effort to have your player attend scheduled practices and games on time.

Team Placement

Tryouts are held in late April and early May for the following soccer year (summer–spring).

Coaches evaluate based on technical skill, tactical understanding, athleticism, and attitude.

Players are placed on teams that challenge their ability while allowing for growth.

Mid-year movement between teams can occur based on performance, commitment, and development needs.

Uniforms

  • Uniforms are purchased on a two-year cycle.
  • Current cycle begins June 2025.
  • Players keep and maintain their kits for the entire cycle unless replacements are needed.

What’s Included

  • Game Kit – Home and away jerseys, shorts, and socks.
  • Training Kit – Training top, shorts, and socks.
  • Outerwear – Jackets, pants, and rain gear available through soccer.com

Ordering

  • All uniforms are ordered through soccer.com.
  • New players will receive ordering instructions after team placement.
  • Orders must be completed by the club’s set deadline to ensure delivery before the season.

Player Responsibility

  • Players are responsible for keeping uniforms clean, in good condition, and ready for each session or game.
  • All required gear must be worn to training and matches — no exceptions.

Financial Aid

We believe high-quality soccer should be accessible to all players, regardless of financial circumstances.

  • A limited number of scholarships and financial aid opportunities are offered each year.
  • Assistance is based on demonstrated need and is available for both new and returning players.
  • Families must submit a financial aid application with supporting documentation.
  • Applications are reviewed confidentially, and awards are applied toward player registration.

Our goal is to ensure financial barriers never prevent committed, talented players from experiencing the benefits of our programs and the unique pathway we offer.
